"For over a decade, I worked in psychiatric care as a behavioral technician. In that environment, you quickly learn that behind every behavioral challenge is a young person trying to navigate an overwhelming internal world. I developed a trauma-informed, empathetic approach to support—but I knew I wanted to reach youth before they reached a point of crisis.

I transitioned into the community, teaching, running YMCA programs, and coaching basketball at Asheville High School. It was on the court and in the classrooms that the final pieces of the puzzle clicked. I saw brilliant, young athletic, and capable kids lose their composure after a missed shot, struggle with peer conflict and decision making, focusing on academics, or fold under pressure.

I realized that traditional youth sports train the body, and traditional schools train the mind—but no one was intentionally training their Emotional Intelligence (EQ).

I founded Shoot for Success Mentoring to bridge that exact gap. Working towards improving our Mind, Body, and Life—is the culmination of my life's work. Whether we are discussing emotional regulation, practicing teamwork on the court, in the classroom, or learning daily life skills, my goal is to meet youth exactly where they are.

At the heart of everything we do are two core values: Compassion and Teachability. We provide a safe space where youth feel deeply supported, but we also challenge them to grow into the leaders we know they can be."
